A guide to the modern ao dai
What is a modern ao dai
What do we mean by the terms modern ao dai and traditional ao dai? While other brands or history buffs might have their own definitions, our staff refer to a modern ao dai as shorter (usually knee length) dress, that is created for everyday wear in mind.

The modern ao dai is usually worn with jeans, leggings or a skirt underneath. A traditional ao dai is work with comfortable, satin or chiffon pants underneath. Personally we prefer the chic silhouette of a well made modern ao dai with jeans or leggings, than with the billowing skirts underneath as made by some ao dai brands.

For important occasions, a traditional ao dai is usually the better/safer choice, a modern ao dai is very practical for everyday wear, whether it be for work or play.
Traditional ao dai are still commonly worn, especially on important/formal occasions and is at no risk of being replaced by the modern ao dai for the foreseeable future, withe the modern ao dai, a complementary garment, which captures the essence of historic ao dai with a contemporary twist.
